What is RTI?
Real Time Information (RTI) is how employers report payroll information to HMRC. Every time you pay an employee, you must submit a Full Payment Submission (FPS) to HMRC on or before the payday.
At the end of the tax year (or when an employee leaves), you submit an Employer Payment Summary (EPS) to finalise the year's figures.
ByteLogic's free beta generates FPS XML files that you can upload to HMRC manually. Direct RTI submission is coming in April 2026 when HMRC's Basic PAYE Tools shuts down.
What's Included in the Free Beta?
📤 FPS XML Export
Generate FPS XML files and upload them to HMRC Government Gateway manually.

Why is ByteLogic Free?
We believe every small business should have access to professional payroll software. With IRIS Payroll Basics being discontinued after April 2026, and Basic PAYE Tools lacking payslips and auto-enrolment, thousands of micro-businesses need modern alternatives.
Our free tier covers payroll for up to 5 employees. We make money from our Pro tier (£19/month) which adds full bookkeeping, VAT MTD, Corporation Tax filing, and more. If you only need payroll, you'll never need to pay.
How RTI Submission Works
Step 1: Run your payroll in ByteLogic (takes 2 minutes)
Step 2: Review the calculated figures
Step 3: Click "Submit to HMRC"
Step 4: Get confirmation from HMRC within seconds
Current limitation: The beta generates FPS XML files that you download and upload to HMRC Government Gateway manually. Direct submission (no manual upload) is coming April 2026.
Who Is the Beta For?
Anyone who wants to try our payroll calculator and see our approach. Useful for:
- Testing payroll calculations before April 2026
- Small businesses who want free invoicing and time tracking
- Anyone curious about ByteLogic before the full launch
Important: The beta is NOT a complete Basic PAYE Tools replacement. You still need another tool for actual HMRC submission until our Pro tier launches in April 2026 (£19/month).
